Announcing Production AND Acting Internships for the Summer of 2010!
A summer internship at the Ivoryton Playhouse offers current undergraduate students and recent college graduates an exciting and intensive opportunity geared towards expanding and developing production and acting skills, making professional contacts, and developing the insight and experience necessary to pursue a career in theatre.
Production interns will work side by side with the Production Manager and the Technical Director in all areas of production. Opportunities will include assisting with set construction, electrics work, prop and costume acquisition and construction, production management, show changeovers, building maintenance, and backstage crewing. Depending on an intern’s experience and interest, there are also opportunities to serve as an assistant stage manager or assistant designer (sound, set, lights) for the Summer Children’s Theatre Series.
In order to gain a full, well-rounded experience, acting interns will work side by side with the stage managers, directors and actors. Opportunities will include assisting with: taking blocking, monitoring props, running lines with actors, small roles in larger productions. Depending on an intern’s experience and interest, there are also opportunities to perform in and/or serve as an assistant stage manager or assistant designer (sound, set, lights) for the Summer Children Series performances.
Internships run from June 1st – August 29th (or a week longer for acting interns in the final show of the season). Interns are responsible for their own housing, and receive a weekly stipend of $75.00.
